About the Owl

Contrary to belief the owl can see well in the day, it just is more effective at night. The owl has very keen eyesight and hearing. Like hawks the owl has a third eye lid that moves from side to side, this cleans the eyes and clears the vision. This symbolizes the new vision opening up to you.

Female owls will only mate with an owl she trusts and some, like the barn owl, mate for life, other types of owls stay together until the owlets leave the nest.

The barn owl has a heart shaped face; this is unique and reflects the ability to link heart and mind.

The screech owl (they don't really screech) although small, is often compared to the great horned owl, in its courage and abilities.

Unlike most birds, owls are nocturnal with a large head and forward facing large eyes. Their eyes are fixed in their sockets, and some are able to rotate their head up to 270 degrees. With exceptional vision, acute hearing, and the ability to fly silently, they are a stealthy and effective hunter. Nocturnal creatures are symbolic of inner-knowing, psychic ability, and intuition. Birds are considered by many cultures to be messengers between earthly creatures and spirit.
